Welcome to The Friends of Stratford Hospital
Helping Your Hospital to Thrive
With your help we can make an even bigger contribution to Stratford Hospital
Friends of Stratford Hospital are a local Charity whose purpose is to raise funds which provide those things, not readily available from the NHS but which support the comfort and wellbeing of patients, their loved ones, and the hospital staff.
Charity Number: 215843
All Friends are Volunteers, and all funds are used directly for the benefit of the Hospital.
Here's what you can do for The Friends of Stratford Hospital…
WHAT WE DID IN 2024
We funded an extra treatment room for the Physiotherapy Department
We funded the transformation of a storeroom into an extra treatment room for the Physiotherapy Department enabling a greater throughput of patients with more privacy than the curtained cubicles otherwise used.
This work was undertaken by the South Warwickshire Foundation Trust clinical services (SWFTCS) Maintenance Supervisor, Mark O’Loughlin, and funded by the Friends. Since much of the work we fund can be undertaken in-house by Mark, we are able to keep costs at a reasonable level.
Below are before and after photographs.
WHAT WE DID IN 2024
The garden outside the Nicol Ward
The garden outside of the Nicol Ward, which opened in the mid 2000s, needed refurbishment; undertaken by Mark, and funded by the Friends, the restoration of paths and woodwork has provided an attractive base which the Soroptimists have planted. Now, bedridden patients can look forward to a Spring garden right outside their window.

WHAT WE DID IN 2024
bi-monthly arts and craft afternoons for staff and community
We were delighted to fund bi-monthly arts and craft afternoons for staff and community set up by Karen Parker, Health and Wellbeing Information Centre Manager at Stratford Hospital. These are already proving their worth as an opportunity for people to talk about bereavement, for example, with others who have suffered loss.
WHAT WE ARE PLANNING FOR 2025
Funding a hand- held scanner for the Ophthalmology Department
In the pipeline is a hand-held scanner for the Ophthalmology Department which will be used for children and vulnerable adults who cannot co-operate when a scanned photo of the retina is required.
